2/101 set for Afghanistan next summer
As Tintin noted in comments a couple of weeks ago, 2nd BCT of the 101st Airborne Division is headed to Afghanistan next summer, along with 2,400 additional support troops. The DoD just made the announcement today. This brings us to (I think) 22,000 personnel identified out of the additional 30,000 the president announced on December 1st.

ReplyDeleteI AM trying to learn, Gulliver and Tintin and Lil, and everyone else, I really am....
Madhu, you've got nothing to apologize for. We all start somewhere, and not all of us follow the ORBAT or deployment schedules the way Gulliver and Tintin do. That you take so much time to educate yourself is admirable.
ReplyDeleteThe WaPo also says to expect a surge of contractors as well. That's not surprising, but the sheer volume is, 56,000. I can't paste the link in this box, but google washington post contractors and its the first link.
