The death of an Ayatollah
Grand Ayatollah Hosein-Ali Montazeri - one of the most credible and eloquent critics of Iran's regime over the last 2 decades - has died. Others who know Iranian politics and society better than I will hopefully provide analysis in the coming days, but as mourners gather in Tehran and riot police stream into Qom, let's hope that the sad loss of a dedicated reformer is a rallying point for the opposition.

Very sad. This is a huge deal for Shiites.
ReplyDeleteHowever Ayatollah Montazeri lived a long full life. I hope that his followers and family draw comfort from that. Montazeri has now returned home . . . to the transcendent he so loved.
